Finishing Touches on VT Solar House

Finishing touches on VT solar house

A Virginia Tech student and faculty built solar house is getting some finishing touches before competition. The house is sitting in a Blacksburg parking lot while student designers complete the interior of the building. It'll be there until September first. That's when the solar house will be moved to Washington, D.C. where it will be showcased at the National Building Museum before the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon. The competition is held every two years and 20 schools are selected to attend. Each groups must build an 800 square foot house that runs completely on solar power. After D.C., the house will be shipped to Madrid for a European solar design competition
